Paladin Taekwon-Do owner Master Phil Mageau started learning Taekwon-Do in 1990. He trained and taught at many different Taekwon-Do schools in the Edmonton Area. With help from the tuteladge of the Founder of Taekwon-Do, General Choi, Hong Hi and his son, Grandmaster Choi, Jung Hwa, Master Mageau became an avid competitor and known as one of the best practitioners in Canada, winning multiple National Titles. Shortly before his son was born, in June of 2006, he decided it was time to start his own Taekwon-Do School and share his wealth of experiences with his own style of teaching which includes a friendly environment that is customized to the needs and goals of the practitioner. With the help of his wife Sandy, and some other good friends, he was able to see his dream to fruiition. Paladin Taekwon-Do was born. Paladin, meaning a trusted military leader, or a leading champion of cause best reflects the authentic virtues of Taekwon-Do and Master Mageau's teaching style.
Upon its inception 3 ideals were set forth to be Paladin's mission:
Family- started by father and wife for their son.
Fitness- everyone needs exercise, especially the kids.
Fun! - because without fun, it's just work! And so Paladin's motto was formed...

This is our mission and it will always be the mission of Paladin Taekwon-Do, its students and instructors; to teach REAL Taekwon-Do regardless of age, sex, religion, or race, not for money, not for status, not for medals or trophies, but for families, personal fitness, and fun!
There are many other Taekwon-Do clubs in St.Albert, and the greater Edmonton area, but the most important aspect that separates Paladin, from the rest of the pack, is simply HEART. Paladin Taekwon-Do Owners Phil and Sandy Mageau started this school because of a shared passion for Taekwon-Do. It is no coincidence that they met because of Taekwon-Do, and together they hope to be able to share their passion and love of Taekwon-Do!
Paladin Taekwon-Do is a member of the International Taekwon-Do Federation. The ITF is the international body responsible for issuing Black Belt certificates, Black Belt Status Cards, Color Belt membership cards, and ensuring that Taekwon-Do techniques are standardized around the world. The ITF was created in March of 1966 by the late Founder of Taekwon-Do, General Choi, Hong Hi. Currently his son Grandmaster Choi, Jung Hwa is the President of the ITF. Worldwide the ITF contains millions of students and Black Belts, and Paladin Taekwon-Do is proud to be a member of the ITF and its continuing effort to teach REAL Taekwon-Do as General Choi intended.
